Indigo Paris
So we've just arrived back from Paris. Indigo is a fashion trade show, this is where we try and sell our prints. It is always a great experience and a good insight to how part of the fashion trade works. This is the second year my work has been there for sale and even though last year I had some great feedback I had no sales. This year I sold four of my printed fronts I couldn't be more pleased as this only confirms my chosen path for the future. I want to design prints freelance and even though I was unable to make direct contact with any of the major print companies in this country (because of how incredibly busy they were and I could only work for 3 hours) but I acquired a list of all the relevant companies I need to make contact with. A thoroughly successful trip.
Dragon Fruit
This is the most amazing looking fruit, The strange prongs and colour make it very interesting.
It tastes of a light melon, this fruit fascinates me as the the trees it grows on produces the most amazing flowers but they only come out at night. A great inspiration for my FMP and the goblin market poem by Christina Rossetti.

Outfit Boards
Each board is telling a story of the outfit I am planning to design. Print ideas have been taken from the words and story of goblin market this will also help the colour story. Construction ideas will develop from the shapes created by the beautiful architecture and interiors of Strawberry Hill House and 1960s couture fashion will add a element of historical fashion with which to bring all these ideas together.
Origami concept by Shingo Sato
This technique for making origami in a bodice was demonstrated by Shingo Sato on you tube the most precise easy instructions to produce a piece of fashion sculpture. This was my first attempt I am so impressed by the ease of which this can be accomplished I am planning to do more experimentation with these methods. It could add another dimension to the creation of my final collection.
Triumphant Trousers
These trousers are a mock up. They are an example of what they might look like for my Indigo collection. There are approximately 24 pieces on the legs each matching the back, these were probably the most complicated thing I have constructed they took 3 days to make. They need some adjusting as I really wanted them to be fitted to the leg but I can make the adjustments on the pattern. An idea to develop in my final major project.

Final Major
Goblin Market a poem written by Christina Rossetti, it is a poem like a story from the brothers grim, a bit dark and sinister but with a happy ending. I love it and I know it is a great inspiration for my final major project. Snow White which is coming out in June 2012 is adding a more contemporary element to my poem and the stories are similar. My collection is for Spring/Summer but will have a tran-seasonal feel. Multi purpose garments this is how my wardrobe works and I want to translate this into my designs
